July 7, 2009: Rod Serling to be featured in stamp collection
The U.S. Postal Service has announced plans to release a collection of stamps honoring legends from the Golden Age of Television. Rod Serling will be featured, representing his iconic anthology series, The Twilight ZoneSci Fi Wire reports that the set is planned to include other such notable TV stars as Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance (from I Love Lucy), the Lone Ranger, George Burns and Gracy Allen, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, original Tonight Show host Steve Allen, Jackie Gleason and Art Carney (from The Honeymooners), Alfred Hitchcock, Raymond Burr as Perry Mason, Jack Webb from Dragnet, , William "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd, Lassie, Red Skelton, Milton Berle, Dinah Shore, Groucho Marx, Phil Silvers, and from the world of puppets, Kukla, Fran, and Ollie as well as Howdy Doody.
July 1, 2009: SciFi Fourth of July 2009 Marathon Schedule
This year, the network is prefacing the marathon of the original series with a marathon of the The New Twilight Zone series from 1985. The marathon starts Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 AM EST. Check the full marathon schedule for the episodes and times.
The Sci Fi Channel has scheduled two daytime marathons for the month of June:
Tuesday, June 9, 2009 - 8:00AM-4:00PM EST
Wednesday, June 24, 2009 - 8:00AM-4:00PM EST
The site is also featuring a poll where visitors can submit their votes for ten episodes they want to see aired on the channel during the Fourth of July holiday marathon.

Philosophy in the Twilight ZoneISBN 978-1-4051-4905-1; May 2009; $24.95, PB) by Noel Carroll and Lester H. Hunt introduces the cult classic television show (1959-1964) as a shining example of science fiction that was both popular with the public, as well as an innovative and model example of the genre. Rod Serling is given the spotlight for his role as the auteur of one of the most popular television shows of all time, where he found himself living at the edge of the aesthetic, conceptual, and artistic outer limits. The authors emphasize his “writerly” style and image as a new variety of television executive, as well as how his work shaped future forms of the genre, as well as suspense and horror films.
Maxine Cooper Gomberg, an actress best known for playing the secretary in the 1955 film noir classic "Kiss Me Deadly," has died. She was 84.
Gomberg, who also was a social activist, died of natural causes April 4 at her Los Angeles home, her family said...
In 1946, she went to Europe to perform in shows for soldiers. Gomberg stayed for five years, appearing in BBC-TV and theatrical productions.
Upon returning to Los Angeles, Gomberg appeared mainly on TV throughout the 1950s in such shows as "Dragnet," "Perry Mason" and "The Twilight Zone."

(CNN) -- Craggy-faced film, television and stage actorJames Whitmore has died at 87, the Los Angeles County, California, Sheriff's Department confirmed Saturday.
Actor James Whitmore, pictured in December 2006, had a 60-year career on stage, in films and on television.
Details of his death and funeral arrangements were not available.
Whitmore notably portrayed Harry Truman, Will Rogers and Theodore Roosevelt in one-man stage shows and created memorable characters in many movies and TV shows, including "The Twilight Zone."

July 25, 2009: Reached our 300th article with the creation of Charles Beaumont. Dell issue index completed, Gold Key issue index 1/3 completed. Infobox/sidebar colors were changed to provide a unique look to each category of articles.
June 12, 2009: New custom skin created to provide a greater Twilight Zone feeling. It seems fairly stable, but a few kinks (for example: autosuggest, thumbnails, templates, lighter skin compatibility) remain to be ironed out. Site was added to Wikia's Entertainment Hub. Work continues on story templates to speed up the article creation process. List of interwiki prefixes added.
